Kim and Steve White are the parents of 11 year old boy/girl twins, a 9 year old daughter, and a 8 year old son.They have lived in South Lyon just over 7 years. Since becoming parents and adjusting to a busy family life, employment changes, and the unexpected things that can come up on a day to day basis, they often found themselves searching for high-quality child care that could offer flexibility, convenience and affordability. It was difficult finding one child care provider that could offer all three of these things at once. Sensing that they could not possibly be the only busy family with these needs they began to research the idea of opening a child care center that could offer the type of hours, rates and services that would have been most helpful to them. This research resulted in a business relationship formed with the DropInChildcare.com Network and a new child care center in South Lyon called Hour Kidz!
About the Owners:
Kim and Steve both hold Bachelor’s degrees from Central Michigan University and are embarking on this new adventure with solid combined business experiences in the Marketing/Advertising, Real Estate and Law Enforcement fields.

Whether you need scheduled blocks of time or you need to go to an appointment, get your hair done, have a “date night”, run some errands, or just need a back-up to your regular child care, Hour Kidz is here to meet all of your child care needs. We also have an Early Learning Center that is ideal for children needing regular care.
Our facility has been designed for optimum safety. A door lock system allows for only parents and guardians of children to enter the center. The door is locked at all times and background checks are done on all staff members.

CLEAN - Maintaining an extremely clean facility is a vital component of Hour Kidz core beliefs concerning child care. Children are required to wash their hands regularly throughout their stay at Hour Kidz, especially before and after eating, returning from the playground, after craft and messy play times, after sneezing or coughing, and at other various appropriate times. Proper hand washing has been determined to be the best defense in illness prevention, especially among children. The daily cleaning system at Hour Kidz is thorough and strictly enforced. Hour Kidz sanitation practices meet and surpass the requirements set forth by the state and the Red Cross.
In addition, sick children are not permitted to stay at Hour Kidz – we strive to keep Hour Kidz a healthy environment.
SAFE - Monitoring the safety of the children at Hour Kidz is paramount. The Hour Kidz philosophy is rooted in preventative care, and all necessary steps are taken to ensure the safety and security of the children under our supervision. Safety measures include an exterior security door, safe-toy policy, and the Hour Kidz system of child activity streaming. All of the staff at Hour Kidz are trained in first-aid and CPR as well as being trained to be alert and proactive when caring for children.
PLAY – A carefully structured free-play environment is an integral component of child development. While Hour Kidz care givers are trained to direct and encourage children to explore different activities, the children are given the freedom to choose how they spend their time. Activities at Hour Kidz include: arts and crafts, board games, reading books, costume play, video games, computer software, G and PG Parent approved movies, play structures, snacks and meals.
Learn – Learning takes place in everything that children do, from social interaction with peers in a play environment, to a more structured and planned learning experience. Both types of interaction are necessary parts of early childhood development. Hour Kidz is proud to introduce its Early Learning Program, designed to introduce children to various topics and school readiness through themed units.
